SOCIO-ECONOMIC AND PERSONAL MOBILIZATION OF WOMEN THROUGH COMMUNITY MEDIA

This research is to find out the empowerment of tribal women through Mattoli

community Radio. A survey was conducted with 208 tribal women from manathavady in

wayanad district Kerala. Among the 208 tribes 52 are continuously listening the community

radio. And also the involvement in society and empowerment is high. Most of them are

interested to listen the tribal language programme “Thudichatham”. And also they are

receiving lots of information related to the health and farming through the Mattoli community

Radio. Correlation and interview are used to know the level of awareness and empowerment

programme respectively. Results show that the community radio provides programmes to

empower the society and this positively effects the empowerment.
